The Rochester Fire Department is an “on call”, fire department which consists of approximately 40 “on call” firefighters. “On call” simply means that the firefighters respond from home or work or elsewhere to emergency calls. Our members are paid per call. The Rochester Fire Department maintains three fire stations throughout town and has over 20 pieces of active Firefighting/Rescue/Haz-Mat/All-Terrain/Water Rescue and support apparatus.

The Rochester Fire Department also operates the Emergency Medical Services at the Advanced Life Support, or highest level of care. The Rochester Fire Department has two Class 1 Ambulances stocked with the most advanced medical equipment, needed to bring the highest level of pre-hospital emergency medicine to your bedside or to the location of your acute emergency. Our main Fire Station on Hartley Road is staffed around the clock, 365 days a year, by 25 part-time EMT's and Paramedics some of which serve as both Firefighters and Emergency Medical personnel. Our EMT's and Paramedics are highly trained in the most up to date advancements in pre-hospital emergency medicine and treatment and follow a strict set of state and local protocols.

We serve with the most up to date and advanced technology in the prevention and suppression of fire, the protection of life and property, emergency management and rescue, disaster planning, operations and mitigation (whether natural or man-made) and advanced life support and medical services.
